Objective in my work is two-fold:
First, my work is visual study and investigation informed by memories and tendencies both cultural and personal, as well as objects and rituals of everyday life, particularly those of my childhood in Korea. Of interest to me are patterns and relationships, ritualistic repetition, theme and variation, intersection of structure and chance, and the interplay between individual and collective.
Second, my work is research into safer, sustainable approach to printmaking that utilizes nontoxic techniques, while preserving core principles and possibilities inherent in printmaking as a medium. With this goal, I employ printmaking processes of my own invention that apply simple, modest materials and are uniquely specific to my intent and visual language.
