Kasterlee is located east of Antwerp and known for its forests. On the morning of my scheduled check-in, I literally "took a walk through the woods" to arrive at Frans Masereel Center. Not a bad way to begin a residency!

Individual apartments are provided to each artist for use during the residency. It has everything one needs to live and work--kitchen, bath, sleeping loft, and work area.

Each artist is also provided one of these very cute yellow bicycles.
